Fan Huaxiao's artistic practice is deeply rooted in the traditions of 17th-century Dutch still life painting. His work evokes Damien Hirst's skulls and specimen displays, Kathleen Ryan's jewel-encrusted decaying fruit, and the imaginative realms of Magritte and Dalí. Fan Huaxiao's works construct one exquisitely crafted allegory after another.
